To promote public appreciation of art in Dry Pastel and to improve
the skills of artists working in this fine art medium.
Pastel Artists.Ca (PAC), previously known as Pastel Artists Canada,
was founded in 1989 by a small group of
artists in the Golden Horseshoe area. Its membership has grown to
approximately 200 artists and extends beyond the borders of Ontario,
including members from coast to coast.
As a group, PAC is also part of the International
Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS).
Members of PAC benefit in a number of ways.
PAC sponsors workshops led by well-known international
instructors and our own teachers,
exposing participants to a variety of painting and drawing techniques.
Our Newsletter "Purely Pastel" has a lively exchange of
information.
Members are automatically part of IAPS and may participate
in the IAPS Biennial Convention and competitions, as well as
our own Members Shows and the Juried Exhibitions. Members may also
participate in the PAC online gallery for a yearly fee.
PAC Newsletters issued to members on or near the 1st of
the following months: February, May, August, November. The
editor requires all information/events for publication two weeks prior to
publication — e-mail
newsletter@pastelartists.com.
PAC has only one formal meeting a year, an Annual General
Meeting usually held in the spring. Each year there is a
Members Only Show plus an Open Juried Exhibition. Our membership is held together
by our common love of the medium.
PAC awards Signature and Master Pastellist Status
PAC Signature status is awarded to those artists who have successfully entered three of our
Open Juried Shows.
MPAC Master Pastellist status is an award that is a benchmark of high accomplishment
in the dry pastel medium, and provides a challenge for artists working in a
professional way at a high level of proficiency. Successful recipients are awarded
the signature status MPAC. View the
Masters Gallery for further details.
